Pupils learn about Egyptians, the Japanese and... Narnians?

New to the website this week, we have some great work from year 3 and year 4.

Earlier on this month, a group of 16 secondary school students from St Mary's C of E School in Japan visited Moor Hall Primary to perform a few songs for our pupils, and to teach them about various aspects of Japanese culture.

If you visit Year 3's page, you can view pictures of them learning some Japanese calligraphy and trying their hands at origami!

Jumping to a completely different culture, Year 4 have been continuing learning about the Ancient Egyptians - this time by dressing up as them!

On top of this, they have been practising their fantasy-writing skills during literacy, by noting down the thoughts and feelings of Lucy as she entered the world of Narnia. There's been some great results to this - have a look at them on the Year 4 page!

Abernant Day 4 continued...

Abernant Day 4

So the rain held off for a lovely morning's activities...... children enjoyed climbing and had great fun on the blind trail and loved the archery. Highlights of the day included lots of screaming children on top of the climbing wall; Mrs Clewer washing her hair; children caked in mud from head to toe and the washing down of muddy clothes.

You will all be very pleased to hear that the children are very weary and we are hoping for an earely night!! Please stock up on washing powder in preparation for the contents of their suitcases!

Day 3 pics continued....

Abernant Day 3 - More mud!!

Another fabulous and eventful day. After a hearty breakfast and a lot of deliberation about the best clothing to wear, the morning activities commenced! These were all centred around the lake and involved canoes, kayaks and water.... Mrs Menmuir soon discovered that the lake wasnt anywhere near as deep as it looked!

During the evening the children went for a long walk in the dark - the instructors commented on how excellent they were as a group. Children concluded the day with a very much needed sleep.

(Further updates this evening after 9pm.)

Abernant Day 2

Despite typical Welsh weather conditions we have had a wonderful day. Some of the activities we have done are low ropes, blind trail, survival skills, fencing and (a very long and wet) hill walk.

The children certainly got extremely wet and muddy.

10.15 Abernant Day 1

We've arrived!
After a very long coach journey we finally arrived in sunny (yes sunny!) Wales. All of class 5 have settled into their rooms well and made it very homely (I mean messy!). The first night meal of toad in the hole and apple crumble went down a treat, however there was still room for sweets before bedtime! Everyone is settled in bed now and looking forward to an exciting day tomorrow.

ABERNANT (and 10,000th log in!!!)

Children left school this morning at 10.33 all very excited about their visit to the Abernant Lake Hotel.

Communication about arrival will be via text. We hope to post the first pictures to you by 8pm this evening. There will be daily updates .... so keep an eye on our website.

We will be very interested who will be the 10,000th log in!! This is really very positive as the website has only been opened for a few months and is proving to be very popular.
