Thank you to our Community Police officers!

A HUGE thank you to PC McCallum and the team of officers who cleared the road this morning.

School OPEN on Wednesday 23rd January

The corner of Rowallan Road, adjacent to our school, was like a block of ice this morning. Mrs Garrington, our Chair of Governors, and I spent the majority of yesterday trying arrange for the road to be gritted but clearly we are not considered a priority by the Highways Department! This morning I contacted our local community police for advice and within the hour several officers arrived with grit and shovels. As a result of their hard work, the ice has been removed and the surface of the most dangerous area of the road has been gritted. When I left school today a car came round the 'gritted area' outside of the school gate, drove down Rowallan Road too quickly and then attempted to turn into Homer Road. The car left the road, mounted the pavement and buckled its rear wheel. If a child had been walking to school at that time there would have been a dreadful accident. The corner of Rowallan Road next to our school is dangerous at the best of times, it is where children and parents congregate. I have requested a grit bin and, should we find ourselves in this situation again I will be asking for volunteers to help clear the road - unless of course the council support us by placing us on their gritting route. Please can you walk to school with your child tomorrow. If you do have to go by car then please drive slowly.
