Dangerous Parking
Thousands of people view irresponsible parking on the Moor Hall Road Safety Facebook page. Dangerous parking poses a serious risk to our children, our families and our neighbours. THINK before you park.

Moor Hall School's Road Safety Video
Road Safety Week was at the end of November, and while focusing on this important issue, pupils in Year 5 learned Moor Hall's Road Safety song to teach us some important DOs and DON'Ts for staying safe around roads and cars. The rest of the school then enjoyed learning the song in assembly too!
With all the weather disruptions of last week, we've been a bit delayed getting this up, but you can now watch our Road Safety video - why not have a look below!

Reflective Arm Bands WE NEED YOUR HELP
School Council are fund raising to purchase reflective arm bands for all of the children at Moor Hall. Clearly we would like to have these as soon as we can. If anyone is able to provide sponsorship (we think we can use this as publicity too) then please can you let us know. Reflective arm bands could be a life saver!
We would like £200 total of sponsorship to supplement fund raising by the children. The sooner we can purchase them the better.
Please can you retweet this message? Thank you.

ONE DIRECTION at Moor Hall !!
Now we have your attention - please observe our voluntary one way system. ONE DIRECTION of traffic helps us make our school a safer place. The only incidents I am aware of over the past 11 years have been where parents have changed direction.
The Green Cross Code
ROAD SAFETY WEEK
Children in Y3 have been doing some very important work about the Green Cross Code. We will publish their video shortly. In the mean time the Green Cross Code is available by clicking here.

Moorhens Road Safety Competition
Moorhens
Road Safety Competition.
This competition is
open to Moorhens club children only.
We would like children to work in
mixed age groups at Moorhens to create an advert including a slogan for road
safety. Each team will have access to an I-pad. They can sing, act, dance or
use puppets to make their advertisement.
Children then need to design a poster
Think about whom you will be working with. You
will need a camera operator, director, actors, a script writer and poster
designer.
All advertisements will be shown to
the whole school, who will then vote for which advert they like the best.
The winners of the competition will
be announced in assembly within the last week of the summer term and a prize
will be awarded to each child in the winning team.
All children who take part will
receive a certificate.
Competition entries must be handed in
by Wednesday 8th July.
Good Luck!

Walk to School Competition
CONGRATULATIONS to class 2 who won the walk to school week competition. They have had an extra break this afternoon.
We will be monitoring the number of children who will be walking to school next week and at the end of the week the class with the most stickers will earn an extra breaktime.
Walking to school is not only healthy but it reduces the amount of congestion outside of our school gate, making it much safer for all. If you can't walk all of the way to school then please consider parking and walking for a short distance.

Bikeability
Year 5 pupils were given the opportunity to participate in a Bikeability course, the course enabled children to learn about road safety and they had to apply this knowledge to cycling around the local area under the supervision of trained instructors. Children completed a 4-day course and at the end of the course they were assessed by the instructors and told if they had passed the programme. The majority of the children did! Therefore, today in assembly Mr Steggall handed out bikability certificates to every child in Class 5 because each pupil had got involved with the course. Well done Year 5 this is a super achievement and the instructors were very impressed with you. What a great scheme to be part of!

Y-Factor - Behind the Scenes Footage!
If you've been following the school blog, you'll know that Year 5 recently took part in the "Y-Factor", a competition in which Birmingham schools were tasked with writing and performing their own song all about road safety.
Out of the 40-odd schools that entered the competition, Moor Hall Primary did fantastically well in coming out in the top three and finishing the competition with the runner-up title. Huge congratulations go to Year 5 for their efforts, and many thanks to everyone who voted for Moor Hall Primary!
Loads of fun was had over the course of the Y-Factor, and to witness some of this watch the video below, which takes us behind the scenes on the day when Ed & Rachel from Heart FM came to visit!
Enjoy the video, leave a comment below, and have a very Merry Christmas!

We have the Y-Factor - Please Support Us!
The Y-Factor is about everyone understanding WHY we need to cross our roads safely and HOW to do that.
Moor Hall Primary are extremely proud to be one of the three Y-Factor finalists! Ed and Rachel from Heart FM came into school early in November to talk to the children of Year 5 about their entry. They also brought a professional film crew with them, who shot the children performing their song. The video is now up on the Y-Factor website - why not take a look!
Please show your support by visiting the Y-Factor website and casting a vote for Moor Hall Primary School!
http://www.yfactor.org.uk/
You can visit this link as many times as you want to keep voting - Ed and Rachel even encourage you to do this! Remember to tell all of your family and friends so they can vote too!
Voting will close on Friday 9 December 2011 and the winners will be announced on the Y-Factor web-site on Monday 12 December 2011.
