Class 2 Page Update!

I have uploaded a selection of photographs from our Science lesson this afternoon.  The children have been hard at work making circuits.  We had a really fun, interactive afternoon!

Year 3 Maths Morning

 I would like to say thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who came to the Y3 Maths Workshop. The children really enjoyed  demonstrating their numeracy skills to you.
 I hope you had as much fun as we did!

Y2 Maths Workshop

Class 2 eBooks

After quite a few sessions of Computing, Class 2 finished their eBooks about the History of Cadbury today.  Children have been working really hard in pairs to produce their books.  Children used the internet and our class timeline to find out information for themselves and then searched, saved and uploaded  pictures, text and background colours to create their books.  We have some budding non-fiction writers here in Class 2!  I have uploaded a few examples of the children's books into 'Useful documents for parents of Class 2' on the school website. Please take a few minutes to have a look at the children's hard work! (They are PDF files so couldn't be added to the 'Children's Work' section).

First week in Class 2

Well we have had a great first week back here in Class 2!  Children have come back eager to learn and been on their best behaviour!  We have been participating in a range of activities and created some great first pieces of work.  Please check the 'Children's Work' section of the Class 2 page to see some photographs of our first week back.  Have a great weekend!  See you Monday! :)

KS2 SAT Results

KS2 SATs results have been added to our website under 'correspondence'. An update that more accurately compares our results against national results will follow next week.

RSPB visitors

Today we were fortunate to have visitors from the RSPB and BirdLife Malta. They initially came to see and listen to a presentation  with Mrs. Glare's 'Bird Club'. The children in the club explained the work they had completed for their Wildlife Explorer's Bronze Award. The visitors then worked on a project  'Nature at Home 'with class 3. We used maps we had drawn of the school grounds to plot habitats we had created for our wildlife. We had informative discussions about wildlife in Malta and ideas about how we could improve our grounds in the future. Mr Winter will try to put a few photographs about our exciting afternoon in the year 3 area this evening. Our visitors were very impressed by the children's knowledge, enthusiasm and behaviour. It would be lovely to hear the children's comments on the blog.

Class 5 Mock Election

Due to the 2015 General Election, children in class 5 spent some time discussing and furthering their knowledge of politics. We discussed what voting is and how it works and then we spoke about the different political parties. Children were then given some time to research the different parties to gain an understanding of which party they would be most inclined to vote for. In the classroom we then set up a polling station, children were issued with their own poll card and Mrs Russell and Mrs Parsons acted as Poll Clerks. Children put their votes into a ballot box. Hopefully this activity has helped us to gain a better understanding of the process and the importance of an election.

Class 2 Page Update

Where has another week gone?!  Children have been very busy continuing with their Literacy, Numeracy and topic work and have now also began rehearsing our Christmas production.  We finished our busy week with lots of fun dressed as our favourite Super Heroes.  I have updated the Class 2 page with photographs of our Numeracy and Geography work and photographs from today as our heroes.    

Class 2 Page Update

Children have made a great start to the first week back and have been very busy!  I have updated the children's work section of the website to showcase their fantastic Geographical 'Vs' posters they have created on the ipads.  Please take a few moments to have a look at Class 2's hard work! :)  

Little Red Riding Wolf

Before the holiday a small group of children read  Little Red Riding Wolf with our class governor. Some of the children did some excellent homework after reading the book. Well done to Max and Finlay.

Frogspawn update by Charlie

On Monday 7th April year five started their bike ability course. As my group came back past Moorhens someone noticed some frogspawn in a puddle then it dawned to me that when the puddle dries up the tadpoles will die…..

So, at break time, I told Mrs Glare and we took a tub and some paper to help rescue the tadpoles. Then carefully we fished them out of the puddle. By now we had attracted quite a crowd, who had seen me and Mrs Glare on our hands and knees and come to investigate what we were up to.

Once we had all of the frogspawn out of the puddle and in the tub I carried the frogspawn to the pond. Then carefully I tipped the frogspawn into the pond and it dropped to the bottom. Mrs Glare said it will take a little while till it floats to the surface because the oxygen would have to get into the frogspawn so it could float to the surface. After that I went to the kitchen and asked for some lettuce to feed the tadpoles with. The lettuce had to be really small so that they could eat it.

Soon play time was over and we went back into class as if nothing had happened! I felt proud after what I had done.

Learning About Sentences

Year 3 pupils have been learning about different types of sentences in recent weeks.

Why not watch the video below where two of our literary whizzes give you a rundown on how to structure a couple of different types. They put this video together using an iPad and the apps Keynote, Photoshop Express, Vittle and iMovie.

An expert comes to school.

Today Elizabeth and Rachel's mum came to talk to us at school. She is an expert on Rocks and Soil which is our science topic. She spoke to Class 3 and answered the children's questions.

C'ass 2 Page Updates

Class 2 had a great day out at Sutton Park today.  I have uploaded photographs from today to the Class 2 section of the website.

Madeline and Daya have also been very busy at home creating PowerPoint's and posters on the computer so I have uploaded their work to the Class 2 homework section.

Year 3 World Book Day

The children in Class 3 looked great today, all dressed up as their favourite book character. Have a look in the Year 3 area for some photos!

Class 2 Children's Work Updated!

Just a quick blog post to inform you that I have updated the Children's Work section of the Class 2 webpage.  Children in Class 2 have been very busy writing stories and have enjoyed reading them to each other at story time!
