Moor Hall Carnival of Lions

Moor Hall Primary School are extremely excited to present a dance performed by the whole school - The Carnival of the Lion’s. As a school, we have taken inspiration from the Carnival of the Animals concert, of which we were fortunate to watch being performed live (virtually) by the CBSO, and have used this dance project as an exciting opener to many more ‘animal’ based projects that we have in store. All children from EYFS to Year 6 fully engaged, enjoyed and achieved during this project and we are so proud to show you our final performance. Enjoy. #themoorhallchild

Virtual Open Day Video

At this time of year we would normally be offering open days for prospective parents to come and have a look around our school. In light of current restrictions, we are unable to offer these events this year. Instead we have produced a virtual open day video - we hope that this gives a good feel for our school!

For a chance to meet our Senior Leadership Team, we have two online Teams sessions available as part of our Virtual Open Day offerings. Please click here to book yourself into a session. Please note that to allow us time to organise this, this form closes on Monday 30th November at 12pm (noon).

At the end of 2018, Moor Hall School got a wildlife camera. We posted our first week's video back then, but haven't showed any more outside of school since. Why not check out some of the below footage - this covers the rest of 2018!

Moor Hall Wildlife Camera

Mrs Glare and a group of children were invited by Mr Martin to the local RSPB group to give a talk about the Wildlife Awards they were involved in. The group was so thrilled with the presentation that they gave a gift of £50 which was used to buy the school a wildlife camera. For the past few weeks we have been filming the wildlife that has visited our garden.

Have a look at the video below to see what we captured in our first week.

Moor Hall School Oral History Project

Moor Hall School Oral History Project

As you know History is an important part of the curriculum at school. The children enjoy the visitors and trips out which we use to engage the pupils in their learning.

I would like to add to this engagement by starting an oral history library of the memories of parents, grandparents and friends of the children who attend our school. I see it as a resource which teachers can use with pupils immediately to give greater perspective to how life has changed in the relatively recent past.

Adult participants can record or video short clips (no more than a minute) of themselves talking about specific subjects.
At the moment I suggest participants talking about subjects such as:
·       Moor Hall School (for past pupils or neighbours)
·       My School Life
·       Mere Green
·       Sutton Coldfield
·       Birmingham
·       Transport
·       My home – to include domestic items like telephones- how soon will it be before landlines are a thing of the past?!
·       Toys and games (what did we do before computers?!)

I would also love to get people talking about their memories of World War Two- does anyone know people who were evacuated?

This is not an exhaustive list, if you have any ideas please feel free to follow them up.
When you record your piece, it does not need to be scripted or formal. I would like every clip to start with the participant saying their month and year of their birth, this will add to the historical perspective.

I would like this to be an ongoing resource library which we can build up and  use for years to come.
In the first instance please send your video or audio clips into school via email to enquires@moorhall.bham.sch.uk so Mr Pittaway (our ICT technician)  and I can sort and store them safely. If you have any questions, comments or queries please come and discuss them with me.
Thank you in anticipation of your support for this exciting project.

Your sincerely

Roger Winter

Expansion Update 9th February 2018

It has been a very exciting morning this morning - the tarmac for the temporary car park has arrived. Year 1 went out to have a look at the rollers flattening the surface. They have seen where the new classrooms will be. In September 2019 they will be moving in to the new block as they will be in Year 3. although it is a long way away it is very exciting.

This is the arrival of the tarmac. This is going to be a temporary surface and will be replaced with grass once the building work has been completed.

Moor Hall School's Road Safety Video

Road Safety Week was at the end of November, and while focusing on this important issue, pupils in Year 5 learned Moor Hall's Road Safety song to teach us some important DOs and DON'Ts for staying safe around roads and cars. The rest of the school then enjoyed learning the song in assembly too!

With all the weather disruptions of last week, we've been a bit delayed getting this up, but you can now watch our Road Safety video - why not have a look below!
