Moorhens Road Safety Competition
Moorhens
Road Safety Competition.
This competition is
open to Moorhens club children only.
We would like children to work in
mixed age groups at Moorhens to create an advert including a slogan for road
safety. Each team will have access to an I-pad. They can sing, act, dance or
use puppets to make their advertisement.
Children then need to design a poster
Think about whom you will be working with. You
will need a camera operator, director, actors, a script writer and poster
designer.
All advertisements will be shown to
the whole school, who will then vote for which advert they like the best.
The winners of the competition will
be announced in assembly within the last week of the summer term and a prize
will be awarded to each child in the winning team.
All children who take part will
receive a certificate.
Competition entries must be handed in
by Wednesday 8th July.
Good Luck!

Walk to School Competition
CONGRATULATIONS to class 2 who won the walk to school week competition. They have had an extra break this afternoon.
We will be monitoring the number of children who will be walking to school next week and at the end of the week the class with the most stickers will earn an extra breaktime.
Walking to school is not only healthy but it reduces the amount of congestion outside of our school gate, making it much safer for all. If you can't walk all of the way to school then please consider parking and walking for a short distance.

Back in May, Moorhens held a competition for children to design a Royal stamp, to commemorate the forthcoming birth of the Royal baby. The winning entries from both the infants and juniors were sent to the palace. Today we received a letter from the palace saying what delightful designs the children had done.

Design a Royal Stamp Competition
Moorhens and the Extended School clubs had a compitition for the children to design a stamp to commemorate the forthcoming birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridges baby.
We had lots of entries for the competition and Miss Jones found it quite hard to decide on just two winners due to such a high calibre of designs sent in.
The winner of the Junior competition was Elley Criddle age 11, who designed a union jack baby carriage.
The winner of the infants was Sophie Matthewson age 5, who designed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their new baby in a cradle.
Both girls received a £10 book voucher and their entries will be sent off to the palace.
All children who entered received a certificate in taking part.
A big thank you and well done to all the children who entered. You all did a fantastic job and hope to see your entries again in any future competitions we have at Moorhens.

Y-Factor - Behind the Scenes Footage!
If you've been following the school blog, you'll know that Year 5 recently took part in the "Y-Factor", a competition in which Birmingham schools were tasked with writing and performing their own song all about road safety.
Out of the 40-odd schools that entered the competition, Moor Hall Primary did fantastically well in coming out in the top three and finishing the competition with the runner-up title. Huge congratulations go to Year 5 for their efforts, and many thanks to everyone who voted for Moor Hall Primary!
Loads of fun was had over the course of the Y-Factor, and to witness some of this watch the video below, which takes us behind the scenes on the day when Ed & Rachel from Heart FM came to visit!
Enjoy the video, leave a comment below, and have a very Merry Christmas!

Moorhens Competition - The Primary Apprentice
Before the summer holidays you may remember that Moorhens ran a competition over a two week period where groups of children could create their own video advert for a chocolate bar or sweet.
We had twelve children enter the competition, which were mainly in groups of two. The videos were shown to the entire school, and then each child voted on their favourite. One particular group of children were leading the way until the final class came in with their results. These results changed the lead of the competition and we finally had a winning group - announced in assembly as Advert 7.
The winning design was a Mario style chocolate bar called Mario Marshmallow Munch Melties.
