Moor Hall Carnival of Lions

Moor Hall Primary School are extremely excited to present a dance performed by the whole school - The Carnival of the Lion’s. As a school, we have taken inspiration from the Carnival of the Animals concert, of which we were fortunate to watch being performed live (virtually) by the CBSO, and have used this dance project as an exciting opener to many more ‘animal’ based projects that we have in store. All children from EYFS to Year 6 fully engaged, enjoyed and achieved during this project and we are so proud to show you our final performance. Enjoy. #themoorhallchild

Magazines and pictures needed please Year 4

Dear Parents,

Tomorrow Year 4 will be writing poetry on the theme of ‘A view from the window’.

To help us gain inspiration, the children will be creating a mood board. For this we will need plenty of pictures from magazines, travel brochures and other colourful pictorial publications.

Please could you send them in with the children tomorrow?

Thank you for your help.

A Note to Parents About PE Kits

Dear Parents,
It has been brought to my attention that a number of PE kits have gone missing from the cloakroom outside year 4’s classroom.
As you may be aware, Moorhens have to share this area with the year 4 children, therefore lots of bags accumulate at the beginning and the end of each week.
It’s easy to pick up another childs bag due to all bags being the same colour, but it would make life easier for school and parents if the childrens names were put on the outside of the bag. This would make the childs name more visible.
If you do find that you have taken another childs bag home by mistake, you can always telephone Moorhens to notify us and we can pass the message onto the class teacher. Please return the bag/items to school as soon as possible as this saves both class and Moorhens time, searching for PE kits.

Many Thanks,

Mrs Conrad (Moorhens manager)

Calling Class 4

Calling Class 4... If you've got any boxes at home, don't put them out for recycling just yet!

If you have a small cardboard box (such as a cereal/tea/small shoe box) then please can you bring it into school with you this week. We will be using them as part of our learning on Wednesday and I'm hoping that we can at least have one between two!

See you tomorrow!

Well done to twenty children from Year 3 & 4 who passed their RSPB Climate Action Award. These children have completed activities at the 'Climate Club' at school and also at home to show they care about our planet.

The children were presented with certificates, stickers and badges at an assembly this week.

Well done to you all!

Climate Action Awards

Taking action for climate change is important at home, but it's just as important at school.

Children taking part in the RSPB Climate Action Awards have been keen to take action. They have spread the message using posters and our club's noticeboard, they have been proactive checking taps, thermometers and lights, they have organised the composting bins and have planted seeds to form wildflower beds.

This morning more 'Greening our School' took place. The school pond is very active with tadpoles at present, helping protect this wildlife area of the school is part of our award action.

Mrs Glare said: "Well done children, you are all doing your bit to help combat climate change."

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

Everyone in Key Stage Two went to see The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe today at the REP theatre in Birmingham.
We had a great time watching an excellent production.

The teachers were wondering what the children thought of it all.

Please leave your comments on the blog...

Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 Choir Arrangements for the Mitchell Centre

Dear Parent / Guardian,

Our first ‘gig’ for the Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 choir is fast approaching; Saturday 12th December 2015… TOMORROW!!! I have to say I am really excited. Thank you for your support because, at the end of the day, without you transporting your children to and from an array of venues, opportunities like this simply aren’t possible; thank you.

Saturday 12th December 2015 – The Mitchell Centre Sutton Coldfield

Children can wear Christmas jumpers and if possible a Christmas hat! (Please do not buy them – I have a few we can loan). If your child uses an inhaler, please be sure to bring their medication from home. We will not be taking the inhalers from school. Please could you also ensure that your child has been to the toilet before they meet us. We will be unable to take children to the public toilets.

Mr Watts and I will meet the children at 12:45pm at the centre. Please park in the main car park and walk through the covered walkway towards the Hungry Horse. If the weather is wet, we will meet under the covered walkway, if not, in the open. One thing is certain it will be chilly, so please wrap up warm; hats, scarves and gloves.

Please do not leave your child unattended, keeping your child safe is the priority given that it is such a busy time of year for shoppers. Please ensure that Mr Watts or Mrs Collins has acknowledged receiving your child. Could we please also request that you do not leave the Mitchell Centre. We are responsible for your child when they are singing, but ultimately the visit can only take place if parental responsibility, whilst visiting the Mitchell Centre, is acknowledged.

We will be singing from 13:00 to 13:45/14:00 (we could be repeating some songs!), so enjoy wandering around the shops or having a coffee, as we entertain both yourselves and shoppers whilst raising money for the Birmingham Crisis Centre.

See you all on Saturday.
