Dissecting with Year 5!

Daffodils from Year 5's garden box provided a hands-on activity today.
We dissected 15 innocent flowering plants to learn about their anatomy...

Birmingham Winter Games

We were very fortunate last week to play Netball and Hockey at the Winter Games at the Futsal Arena in Birmingham.
The teams represented Sutton Coldfield in their sport. With a Year 5/6 team playing Netball and a Year 5 Team representing us in Hockey. The children played very well, making sure they were using the knowledge of the game and playing to the best of their ability.
We walked away coming 2nd over all in Netball and 4th place in the Year 5 Hockey. However, our achievements didn't stop there!!
Year 5 managed to represent their school so well by encouraging other teams, showing good sportsmanship and team spirit that they were the only team in Birmingham to win the 'Respect' award...which is as good as coming 1st we like to think.

So an incredible day with some outstanding achievements by all the children involved! It makes me very proud to work with the children we have at Moor Hall School.

A massive 'Well Done'!

Moor Hall's Netball Success!

Last week turned out to be a very successful week in Netball. Coming 2nd in the Birmingham Winter Games and then winning the Under 11 Netball Tournament on Saturday. The girls were undefeated on Saturday, scoring the maximum points, and played at an exceedingly high standard.

As you can imagine both staff and pupils are very proud of the whole team.

Well played girls- what super week!

Ladybirds and Aston Villa

Over the last few weeks, Ladybirds have been having football coaching from Aston Villa. We have been playing lots of games to improve our dribbling skills. I'm really impressed with everyone's enthusiasm and sporting ability!

Year 5 - The Highwayman

Year 5 have been using different styles of learning to improve their understanding of 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes.  They have created pictorial interpretations of some verses, collages of a variety of phrases and enjoyed creating their own drama.  The children have suggested that the range of learning strategies has improved their emotional understanding.  With this in mind,  I am looking forward to reading their emotive work later in the week.

Year 6 Auditions

Year 6 when you audition, would you like a choice of songs? There are so many songs to choose from! However, you did practice one in 'Fun Singing' on Thursday this week - 'Close Every Door To Me.'
So, you could do the song you received the words for today 'Any Dream Will Do' or audition with the one we did in Fun Singing on Thursday (both the words and music for 'Close Every Door To Me' are linked below). Choose whichever song you feel most comfortable singing. Mrs Collins and I don't want you to stress about this - we both want you to enjoy it - and believe that you too (like us!) can SING!
Have a great weekend. keep on singing!
