Song Leaders Training Day

Just a quick reminder for Year 5 pupils...
We have a Song Leader Training Day tomorrow.  Please wear a coat (preferably waterproof) - whatever the weather - we will be walking! You will also need a packed lunch in a disposable bag (unless you have ordered a school packed lunch) with a drink and a disposal plastic water bottle.
We will be leaving school promptly at 9:00 and will return before the end of the school day.  I am looking forward to learning some new songs and giving our singing playground project a real boost.

Extended School Clubs Status

Clubs that are struggling and may have to be cancelled for the June-July term are:

Archery - this is a club I thought would appeal to the older juniors, but due to the poor response, I will be opening this up to yr 4 as well. (please make a single cheque out for this club in case this has to be cancelled and cheques can then be returned in school bags.

Arts & Crafts - we need just 2 more children for this club go ahead

Cricket - we need 3 more children for this club go ahead

Rounders yr 5 & 6 - again a poor response to this club and  because of this it may have to be cancelled. Depending how many children fill the 3:30 time slot for the yrs 3 & 4 Rounders, I may be able to mix yr 5 & 6 children within that same club. I will telephone parents if I have to cancel the club, or  for their permission to move children to the earlier time.

Please send in your Booking Forms A.S.A.P before Thursday 23rd May as this is the day I will be notifying external providers if their clubs are going ahead or not.

Clubs confirmed for next term are:

Mini-Athletics - 2 places left
Bird Club - full
Lego Club - 4 places left
Rounders yrs 3 & 4 -3 places left
Tennis - 7 places left

RSPB Middleton Lakes Bird Walk

Mrs Glare took the Bird Club to RSPB Middleton Lakes Bird Reserve today as part of their bronze wildlife awards. We viewed a heronry and rookery before heading down to the lakes to view a selection of water birds.
We saw many species of birds and even had time for a game of 'Pooh Sticks' on the bridge in the 'Woodland trail'.
Lots to learn, lots of fun!

Bird food collection bottle

Last year the 'Bird Club' created a 'Wildlife Garden' as part of their RSPB gold award.
The garden is thriving and attracting a large selection of birds and our feeders are fully in use! To help us keep up with the demand, please donate any loose change into the 'bird food collection bottle' in the entrance hall. Any money donated will be used to buy food for our birds. Thank you.

Bird Sale

Last Monday the Bird Club held a sale to raise money for wildlife. As part of our bronze RSPB Wildlife Award, we have to raise awareness and involve others to help our local community.

We had made bookmarks, masks and finger puppets. We had a fun time selling and made £32! We are giving £15 to RSPB Middleton Lakes and keeping the rest for bird food for our wildlife garden.

Well done Bird Club!

Year 6 auditions

Miss Shindler and I had five fabulous lunch-times listening to the first round of auditions - what a talented class you are Year 6 - thank you so much.

So, on to round two...
We now know you can sing, but can you combine singing with acting?  Click here to see the words to 'Song of the King (Seven Fat Cows!).  This is a fabulous song that, if you have the courage, allows you to really go-for-it!  We are looking forward to watching your interpretation this rock'n'roll song.

By the way - you sounded great on Thursday -  well done all of you.
