Villa visit

#avfc The year 3 and 4 pupils had a great time with the coaches from Aston Villa today.
The morning was spent playing a World Cup tournament on our school field!!
The winners were Spain but every country played really well.
After lunch we went to Villa Park. The children had an exciting and interesting tour around the stadium. We visited the press room and the dressing rooms. The tour finished with all the children walking onto the pitch through the tunnel.

With grateful thanks to the staff at Aston Villa for their help with the organisation of this trip.  The children had a lovely time.

Hats and Sun Cream please

Please make sure year 3 and 4 remember to bring a sun hat for today. Please apply sun cream to  the children before school.
We are looking forward to an exciting day with coaches from Aston Villa.

A visit to the Birmingham Conservatoire

Today Class Four were lucky enough to watch a performance of traditional and world music at the Conservatoire in Birmingham.
The show was part of the #mfy Music for Youth festival - a week long celebration of music from around the world.
Among other groups we saw Taiko drummers from Exeter and Hampshire, a folk  band from Rochdale and a Samba group from Bradford!
I' m afraid we weren't really allowed to take photos in the Adrian Boult Hall so there aren't  any for the blog , but rest assured we had a great time.
Thank you Mrs Collins for booking the  trip,  Mrs Glare, Miss Richardson for giving up their time to help and Mr Edwards for showing us the way to the hall!

Fruit Tasting

At Moorhens children enjoyed a fruit tasting session today

They tasted, cherries, kiwi, lemon, mango, melon and strawberries

The children had to fill in a questionnaire on what they thought about the fruit they had tasted, such as, did they like it, did they think it was sweet or sour, would they try it again and which fruit was their favourite. They especially enjoyed trying the lemons which led to quite a few funny faces being pulled. Surprisingly though, quite a few children hadn't tried cherries before.

Royal Correspondence

Back in May, Moorhens held a competition for children to design a Royal stamp, to commemorate the forthcoming birth of the Royal baby. The winning entries from both the infants and juniors were sent to the palace. Today we  received a letter from the palace saying what  delightful designs the children had done.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have also sent us a lovely photographic card of themselves
Elley Criddle (junior winner) and Sophie Matthewson (infant winner), will both receive a copy of the letter and photograph
