A Note to Parents About PE Kits

Dear Parents,
It has been brought to my attention that a number of PE kits have gone missing from the cloakroom outside year 4’s classroom.
As you may be aware, Moorhens have to share this area with the year 4 children, therefore lots of bags accumulate at the beginning and the end of each week.
It’s easy to pick up another childs bag due to all bags being the same colour, but it would make life easier for school and parents if the childrens names were put on the outside of the bag. This would make the childs name more visible.
If you do find that you have taken another childs bag home by mistake, you can always telephone Moorhens to notify us and we can pass the message onto the class teacher. Please return the bag/items to school as soon as possible as this saves both class and Moorhens time, searching for PE kits.

Many Thanks,

Mrs Conrad (Moorhens manager)

See you tomorrow!

Our Time Capsule

Today was meet your new teacher day at our school.

Miss Phillips and Mr Winter were very pleased to meet all the children.

The children in 3P and 3W wrote letters about their hopes for the year ahead.

We put each letter in an envelope and sealed them all into our time capsule.

We buried the time capsule deep in the ground and covered it with soil.

We will dig up the capsule in July 2017 at the end of our school year.

Miss Phillips, Mr Winter and Mrs Glare are very excited to be working with the children in 3P and 3W, see you all in September:)

We took other photos of the children burying the capsule but Mr Winter and Miss Phillips were disappointed to find out that they didn't come out properly so we cant show you!!!

Masquerade

Children started designing their masks towards the end of December.  It started with their drawings. They had to find out what design they wanted to put onto the mask before they finally put the real                                                                           thing into action.

Gold, silver, bronze and metallic paint was used. It took very fine paint brushes to add that special                                                                   touch to delicate areas.

It needed a lot of concentration.

Children searched on line to get ideas for designs and colours they desired  for each mask.

They experimented by mixing different paint colours.

Diamante and beads were added to give the masks a little bit of opulence.

These are the masks now they are finished and they are hung on the wall within the Moorhens                                                                                   room.

The close up photo's show just how much work has gone into the making of  these masks

The top section and the face of the mask above was made by printing of a piece of  music and                                              sticking it onto the mask. I think this has a great effect.

Glitter was added to this mask above and so  gives it a different look to a lot of the other masks the                                                                         children made.

Mesh and ribbon gave this mask a totally different look as it was the only full mask without a    headdress. However I think the combination of the bronze and the orange work well together here.

A couple of peacock feathers are added to this yellow mask.

As you can see the children have worked really hard on this project. They stated off with just                         drawings and look how far they have come.
Well done to all the children who gave up their playtime to help make these wonderful masks, which                                wouldn't look out of place in one of those beautiful Venetian shops.

British Values

Children at Moorhens helped to put together a collage of all things which relate to our British values, customs and traditions. They came up with some great ideas, such as roast dinners, double decker buses, poppy's at the tower of London and the royal family. We also had a discussion on what they thought British values were and how they relate to every day life. All of this was added to a huge Union Jack which the children had lots of fun making.

Year 3 Roman work!

Have a look at the Class 3 page of the website. You will see some excellent work created as Powerpoint presentations. The were made following our visit to Wall to learn about Roman life. I'm sure you will agree that the work shows that the children were inspired by the trip.

The Great Fire Of London Assembly

We would like to thank all the parents and relatives that have made, bought and borrowed costumes for our assembly. It was a great performance from year one budding actors and actresses, also dancers. Thank you for all your kind comments which we pass on to the children.

Year 6 Residential

The children have had a wonderful day at Whitemoor Lakes. Here are some of our favourite pictures.
