Moorhens Olympic Art Competition

Moorhens held an Olympic Art Competition during the summer term. We had 13 entries from both infants and juniors. The standards this term were really high and Miss Jones who was choosing the winners found it very hard to pick just one from each catagory. All who entered received a certificate and a chocolate medal. Well done to everyone who entered and congratulations to the two lucky winners.

Infant Winner: Tamsin Russell yr 1

Junior Winner: Elizabeth Jones yr 3

Extended School Clubs

Multi-Sports will not going be going ahead next term due to lack of interest. All other Extended School Clubs will be going ahead as planned.

Colours of the World

For the last couple of days we at Moor Hall School have had the privilege to borrow an Olympic torch. Some of the children (as well as staff) paid £1 to have their photograph taken with it. The money made is being given to St. Giles Hospice. Yesterday - despite the rain, all the children carried a flag representing many of the countries taking part in the Olympics.Mrs. Clewer was honorary Torch bearer. We walked all around the Junior playground and ended in the Infant playground where we were joined by the children from Ducklings Nursery. They had made their own Olympic torches which they held up proudly. We sang the National Anthem. The sun actually shone as we sang!

Olympic Torch Relay at Moor Hall Primary

With the Olympics right around the corner, ten year 6 children got together to run their own mini-relay with a real Olympic torch.
They started out at Moor Hall School, and persevered through the rain to get to Coppice Primary, where they passed the 'flame' on to the next torch. The rain certainly didn't dampen their spirits!

Some new photos have been added to the events page of our website for this - click here to see them.

Summer Ball - A Big Success

Last Friday's PA Summer Ball was a fantastic success, with several great prizes auctioned off!

One of these was a ride in an 8 seater limo, generously provided by Finishing Touch Cars. Many thanks to them for this donation!

Latest Poll Results: Favourite Outdoor Activity

The latest poll results are in, and we now know which activities Moor Hall blog readers enjoy doing outside the most. As you can see on the chart (click to enlarge), swimming and cycling were firm favourites, with sports almost as popular. Poor old gardening got no votes at all!

There were a few who picked other - if you were one of these, why not leave us a comment below to let us know what your favourite activity is?

The latest poll is also now up - why not look to the right to let us know what you're most looking forward to about the summer holidays?

KS1 Lego Club

Our new Lego club began yesterday. Mrs. Russell introduced the children to the club and talked about how we hope it will run. The children discussed possible themes for building Lego models and also the Golden Rules within the club.

The children have made models which you can see below.

I wonder how well KS2 will do tonight!
