Choir singing at Tesco Lichfield
Well done to the choir, Mrs Collins and Mr Watts who performed at Lichfield Tesco this evening.
The children sang carols and Christmas favourites beautifully.
It was a pleasure to listen to you.
They also raised more than £150 for Birmingham Crisis, which is fantastic.

Class 5 Visit to Barnardo's
Throughout this half term, Year 5 have been reading the book 'Street Child', which is based on the true story of an orphan called Jim Jarvis who inspired Dr Barnardo to set up orphanages for street children in Victorian London. We have researched the life and work of Dr Barnardo and his legacy lives on in the form of the well known charity - Barnardo's. Therefore, Class 5 visited our local store in Mere Green and everybody took a gesture to give to shop to sell to help poor children in the UK. Ross, the manager of the shop, was very welcoming and Class 5 would like to offer our huge appreciation for Barnardo's for letting the class visit. I am proud of the children for supporting this great charity. It's so important to keep remembering people who are less fortunate than ourselves, especially at this time of year. Thank you Class 5!

Bikeability
Year 5 pupils were given the opportunity to participate in a Bikeability course, the course enabled children to learn about road safety and they had to apply this knowledge to cycling around the local area under the supervision of trained instructors. Children completed a 4-day course and at the end of the course they were assessed by the instructors and told if they had passed the programme. The majority of the children did! Therefore, today in assembly Mr Steggall handed out bikability certificates to every child in Class 5 because each pupil had got involved with the course. Well done Year 5 this is a super achievement and the instructors were very impressed with you. What a great scheme to be part of!

Year 5 visit to Ironbridge
Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic day, exploring the Victorian town - Blists Hill at Ironbridge. We dressed in Victorian costumes and participated in a Victorian school session, where we wrote on slates, were told off for putting elbows on the desk and even had to have our hands inspected! After lunch we split up into small groups to explore the Victorian shops and businesses. Some of the places we visited included: a chemist, a bank, a wood-shop, a cottage and a locksmith. Of course we had to stop at the sweet shop too! We will do lots of follow-up work about our visit to Ironbridge in class, especially now we have experienced a little bit of what life was like for Victorian children. Here are some photos of our visit (please see the Year 5 class page for more photos):

Club Booking Forms
Reminder:
All booking forms for Moorhens and Extended School clubs will be sent out in the childrens red bags on Friday 10th October.
All clubs are on a first come first serve basis, so I would recommend that parents bring their booking forms personally to Moorhens rather than through the childrens red bags.
Please make sure all booking forms are correctly filled out including telephone numbers and names of people who can collect your child for that day.
Please take note of dates and times of the Extended School clubs, as some clubs are not available on certain days, which may affect Moorhens bookings.
All bookings need to be paid in advance of any club being booked and only bookings made for the whole half term will be charged £3.00 per child per session. All other bookings will be £4.00 per session.
P.E kits need to remain in school for the children to participate in any of the Extended School clubs. Also please make sure all P.E kits have your childs name clearly marked on them as all P.E kits look exactly the same and they will be easier to find.
Thank You (Moorhens)
