Throughout this half term, Year 5 have been reading the book 'Street Child', which is based on the true story of an orphan called Jim Jarvis who inspired Dr Barnardo to set up orphanages for street children in Victorian London. We have researched the life and work of Dr Barnardo and his legacy lives on in the form of the well known charity - Barnardo's. Therefore, Class 5 visited our local store in Mere Green and everybody took a gesture to give to shop to sell to help poor children in the UK. Ross, the manager of the shop, was very welcoming and Class 5 would like to offer our huge appreciation for Barnardo's for letting the class visit. I am proud of the children for supporting this great charity. It's so important to keep remembering people who are less fortunate than ourselves, especially at this time of year. Thank you Class 5!
